The Latterne is a lamp that captivates with its fantastic play of light and shadow, especially when the lampshade opens up. The amount of light released can be controlled by transforming the shape of the shade. Pushing the lower part of Latterne up or pulling it down opens and closes it. Made from a material combination of battens and fabric, the design aimed to experiment with the use of battens in a completely new context.

The basic idea was to find a new use and design for the battens. By bringing light, movement, and a round shape to the simple constructive material, we gave a new perspective and elegance to the relatively cheap wood.
